“VitaMums” and Health: My Mother, My Vitamin

Vitamins are essential elements that sustain life. But how could life be sustained if it wasn’t there at the first place? And for life to be there, it needs to be given by a person, and that person is none other than a woman, a mother, a mum…

Beyond any vitamins that could be given to a child, a mother gives the most precious and vital thing which enables them to be active inside the new tiny little living body: birth. As a matter of fact, health starts with birth, and it doesn’t make sense without its occurrence from the perspective of life and our way of defining this concept.

That being said, couple of vitamins are essential for a young life who aspires to grow healthy: Vitamin F, perhaps better known as linoleic acid, is an omega-6 essential fatty acid (EFA). It plays a fundamental – in tandem with omega-3 EFAs – in brain function, normal growth, skin and hair regeneration, bone health, and metabolic function; Vitamin E is a fat-soluble antioxidant that stops the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) formed when fat undergoes oxidation. It is involved in immune function and, as shown primarily by in vitro studies of cells, cell signaling, regulation of gene expression, and other metabolic processes ; Vitamin R may refer to rest, relaxation, recreation…What better place in the world can a child get that unique physical and psychological equalizer combination other than in the cradle of love of his/her mum’s place.

One thing is for sure: even later in his/her life a child will never get enough of this one; Vitamin N, like Vitamin R, is not technically a vitamin, but it evokes the importance of a Nature-rich life to heal from the nature deficit disorder (as described by Richard Louv) which is very common in the modern life ; Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin that is also a powerful antioxidant. It plays a critical role in maintaining healthy vision, neurological function, healthy skin, and more. Vitamin A- like all antioxidants- is involved in reducing inflammation through fighting free radical damage ; Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that is naturally present in very few foods, added to others, and available as a dietary supplement. It is also produced endogenously when ultraviolet rays from sunlight strike the skin and trigger vitamin D synthesis. It promotes calcium absorption in the gut and maintains adequate serum calcium and phosphate concentrations to enable normal mineralization of bone and to prevent hypocalcemic tetany, among others.

Many other vitamins and non-vitamins could be listed as essential for a healthy young life. However, considering only the ones already listed, with the adjusted dosage of a few of them in the following sequence: F, E, R, N, A, N, D, E, in my personal biased opinion, it has been possible to provide the most vital complex of vitamins that has ever been given by birth to exactly three young lives who keep growing healthy since then. The most fascinating part is that this organic complex of vitamins has the singularity, the unique power to continue feeding these three lives on a sub-physical level even if it is physically no more itself… This super complex represents who “Marie” is to Jesus, what a beautiful rose is to an ordinary bouquet of flowers. This super complex of vitamins is a “VitaMum”, and her name in this world of forms was Marie-Rose Fernande.

Marie Rose Fernande Pierre-Louis was born on May 31st 1946 and passed away on December 15th 2014.

May her soul and the soul of all the loving mothers rest in Peace!
